An intense accumulation of Pb and Cu occured in the upper layers of the soils situated near the “Glogow” copper smelters. This was confirmed by the profile and timal analysis of the heavy metal content in these soils. The degree of contamination depended mainly on the distance from the smelter. No migration of heavy metals into soil profiles occured in the clay and silty soils investigated, regardless of soil type and the category of soil utilization.
