فصل «Deep-Sea Mining and Potential Risks, Opportunities, and Challenges» از کتاب «Global Blue Economy» بر «حکمرانی معدن‌کاری اعماق دریا» در حوزه «سیاست‌گذاری و حکمرانی مواد معدنی» تمرکز دارد. مباحث اصلی آن شامل بازار، تقاضا و تجارت مس و نقش مس در گذار انرژی است. این فصل برای تحلیل بازار، ارزیابی سرمایه‌گذاری، سیاست‌گذاری، مدیریت ریسک و برنامه‌ریزی راهبردی کاربرد دارد و ارتباط میان نظریه، انتخاب روش، شاخص‌های عملکرد و محدودیت‌های صنعتی را روشن می‌کند.

However, knowledge gaps about life in the deep-sea, uncertainty and doubt about the methods and techniques of deep-sea mining and their potential risks and impacts on marine ecosystems are the main challenges facing commercial activities of these minerals. This chapter analyses the main opportunities and challenges facing deep-sea mining. For this reason, in this chapter, we used a Political-P, Economic-E, Social-S, Technological-T, Legal-L, and Environmental-E (PESTLE) analysis tool combined with a SWOT analysis (the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) powered by a deep literature review of available data and information related to deep-sea mining.
